Persuasive writing why we should fix our feld
We have been having a go at writing a piece of persuasive writing . Here is my piece of writing about why we should fix our field.
+
Title
A Short Statement about the topic.
eg. ‘Rugby League Is A Great Sport’
|
Fix Our Field!
|
Overview/ Statement of position
A brief statement of your view about the topic. What you believe or want to argue.
|
I strongly believe that our field (whira) needs to be fixed! This is because the field was constantly out of use, we need the field for special events, we have specific PE gear we are not using and we need the space to train for tournaments. For these reasons our field needs to be fixed.
|
Series of Arguments
Reasons
Your points supporting your view about the topic. Your arguments to support your statement and information to support these arguments.
Remember
-argument
-supporting detail, reasons, examples
|
Firstly, the field used to be constantly muddy and out of use.
By fixing the field it will not be so muddy so we should be able to use it more often.
|
Secondly, we need the field (whira) for the hangi and special events. When the field is really muddy we can't dig a hole to put the hangi in because there is too much water.
| |
Thirdly, we need the field (whira) for our PE gear. The PE gear is expensive and going to waste because we don't have space to use it.
| |
Finally, we need the field to train for tournaments and sporting events. We need the field to get fit (ora) and get better skills so we can do better at the tournament.
| |
Concluding statement
Summing it up. A summary of your arguments and your view on the topc
|
In conclusion we need to fix our field because the field is always muddy and we need the field so we can have our special events. Our PE gear needs to be used and we all need the space to run around to keep us fit. Please fix our field urgently!

My-Taniwha- Writing
For the past few weeks we have been practising using descriptive language in our own writing. We have been trying to 'paint pictures with words.' We all got to invent our own taniwha. We all drew our own taniwha and then we had to write about it and describe what our taniwha looks like, what we do with our taniwaha and what our taniwha is like. Then we read our work to a buddy and they had a go at drawing our taniwha.
Create and Describe Your Own Creature
(Nogard - taniwha)
WALT: be descriptive in our writing.
Look at the description of a Nogard. Now Create and describe your own creature that you will then be able to read to a buddy so that they can draw it. Your description must be as detailed and clear as possible so that when you share it with others they will be able to visualise and draw you creature. Use lots of adjectives (describing words - big, small, round, green).
You must .....
- Have a name for your creature
- Start from the big things and work your way to the smaller things
- Describe the shapes
- Describe its neck, body, tail, wings etc.
- What does its head look like?Think about its eyes, nose, eyebrows, mouth, teeth
- Describe its legs/flippers/fins etc.
- What colours is it?
- Any extra details on the body like scales, spikes etc.
- Keep it simple and clear!
- Use correct punctuation and spelling.
- Check that your sentences make sense.
Remember that a good writer ‘paints’ pictures in their reader’s head with words. This is what good descriptive writing does.

What the Taniwha
Have you ever seen a taniwha? Well I have. My taniwha look like a stingray. He has a grey back and blue little ovals on his back and the wings are grey. Half of his head is grey and the other half is black and dashes of blue. He has a sharp needle at that end of his tail so he can protect himself. He lives near a village. When I go with my taniwha we got to the middle of the sea. Then we dive down to see Tangora and then we see all of his sons. Then we see a big blue whale. It gives us a ride to the beach where my tribe lives. I really like my taniwha. My taniwha has a kind heart but when someone tries to attack my tribe he becomes fierce then he scares away the people who are trying to attach us!
This is my drawing of my taniwha.
This is Graces version of my taniwha.

What I think you did well: You did well describing the colours well.
