Tramping response

On the 28th and 29th of November the year 8 boys went to Cannibal Gorge. We left school in our car groups I Was with Ian and Ms Kemp. we arrived there at 11:30 and walked up to the hut.

The thing I liked the most was the game of flash because there skittles involved and it was very fun.the thing I didn't like was the food I made because it was soggy and it was impossible to eat.

The best memory I had was when we went out for stories and ms Kemp jump scares me and it gave me a massive fright. Another good memory I had was when jaxon tried to run down a hill with a 10 kg bag on and fell over and had to have stitches.

A recommendation is for others that come tarping come prepared and bring lots of food.

Who likes Fizzy drink? I am going to tell you some interesting facts about  fizzy drinks

You can  get type two diabetes from fizzy. You get diabetes from sugar-sweetened drinks such as cola. There was a study done in America between 1990-2000  and it was found that the increased intake of sugar sweetened contributed to 130,000 new cases of diabetes. The risk of heart disease can increase with consuming too much sugar. Fizzy drinks have also been found to change the protein levels of the brain which could lead to hyperactivity. Also fizzy drinks can make you put on weight.

Fizzy drinks are filled with sugar and calories and have nothing good in them for your body. Healthy drinks such as milk has vitamins and minerals that your body can use. It is important to drink healthy drinks to keep your body functioning properly.

In a two litre of Pepsi is 212 grams of sugar, that's just under a cup. If you have to much sugar  you can get cancer. You should change your diet to natural ingredients, you should change your cereal to a serving that is under 4 grams of sugar each day. Swap soda drinks to juice or water.

If you drink too much fizzy it causes a bacteria in your mouth that makes acid to form in your mouth and attack your teeth for the rest of the day. Diet or sugar free soda contains its own acid that can damage your teeth. You can get erosion from too much soda. If you drink too much soda it can ruin your cavities. Image result for mcdonald drink pngImage result for mcdonald drink png

In conclusion I think fizzy drinks are bad for your teeth and your weight. You can also  get type two diabetes from fizzy drinks. We know that fizzy drinks are cheaper than milk and other healthy drinks, my advice to you is...  drink water!

Kea Patrol

KEA PATROL
I strongly believe that we should have Kea Patrol in the afternoon so children don’t get hit by a car. It is safer to cross everyone together because little children  are not always thinking  about road safety.

Furthermore Kea Patrol stops children from being hit by a car. Our school is on a busy main road with heaps of cars and motor bikes. For example at 3 o'clock lots of parents are trying to get their kids so there are heaps of cars at 3 o'clock. Kea patrol helps children get home safe. It is safer to cross  everyone at the same time. It is more dangerous to have children crossing continuously rather then  once altogether.

Secondly Kea patrol makes children not  worry about  getting home. Children are not thinking about road safety. Children are excited to go home or to  sports after school. It is obvious that we should have kea patrol.

Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi:
In Room 8 we have been learning about Mahatma
Gandhi. He is famous for speaking out about
racism and for doing what he believed was right.
He also is famous for being a not very inspiring
boy as a child, but when he became a man he turned into a true leader.

Mahatma Gandhi is famous for speaking out against racism. In 1893
Gandhi went to work in South Africa, where he realized that racism
was a big thing. When he was on a train, a white man wouldn’t sit
next to him. Gandhi was shocked to find that 100 000 Indians that
lived in South Africa were  given the worst jobs and lived in the
poorest parts. He started working for Indian rights, and this
campaign went on for 20 years.

Mahatma Gandhi was born in 1869 in India. As a boy he was puny and
was not a very inspiring person. He was teased a lot at school and had
difficulty in his school work. When he grew up he was shocked to
find that people were racist about Indians. He became a true
leader and peacefully fought for Indian rights. Gandhi was
given the name ‘Mahatma’ because he was a leader and
he thought that peace was the best way to go. Mahatma
means a person that is regarded with love and respect.

Mahatma Gandhi believed that every person had a right to collect their own
salt. The British Government decided to put tax on salt, so that when
people went to buy salt, they had to pay extra money to the
government for buying the salt! Indians were also not
allowed to collect their own natural salt or even
make their own. Mahatma Gandhi defied this rule
and kept on collecting his own salt. Many other
people decided to follow Gandhi’s lead and collect their own salt
, but hundreds were imprisoned.

Mahatma Gandhi is famous for speaking out against racism,
for doing what he believed was right and that as a boy he was not a leader,
but when he grew up he became a leader. We think that Mahatma Gandhi
was right to believe that everyone should be peaceful and should work
together. Gandhi said, ‘And eye for an eye ends up making the whole world
blind.’ We think that Gandhi meant that fighting with each other was not right
and that everyone should live peacefully. Everyone should have a right to
do what they what, if it is good. Mahatma Gandhi was a very famous and
inspiring person.

Nelson Mandella

This Week my class has been reading and learning about Nelson Mandella.
Nelson Mandella is famous for many things. He fought against segregation
and apartheid, he won the Nobel Peace Prize and
was against white supremacy.

Nelson Mandella is a famous for fighting against segregation and apartheid.
Segregation is when something or someone is set apart from others.
Apartheid is when one race is against the other race concerning skin colour.
I think segregation and apartheid are bad because everyone
should get the same rights to life and should be treated equally.
An example of this is when 69
people that were peacefully protesting were shot down
by police in Sharpeville because the police were with segregation and
apartheid.

In 1993 Nelson Mandella won the Nobel Peace Prize. He won it for his work
of wanting a peaceful South Africa. Frederik Willem de Klerk won the Nobel
Peace Prize with Nelson Mandella for releasing him from prison since
1963 and for participating in the peace process.

During Nelson Mandella's time there was a lot of White Supremacy
in South Africa. When Nelson Mandella ran away to Johannesburg
he was shocked to find the White Africans living in idyllic homes and suburbs
and the Black Africans living in unsturdy, dirty hovels. Nelson Mandella often
said that he and the ANC were not anti-white, but were against white
supremacy. White supremacy is when ‘white’ skinned people get better
education, idyllic homes, food, jobs and a better chance at living a safe
and easy life. Nelson Mandella was against white supremacy.
He thought that everyone should be treated equally and fairly.

Nelson Mandella was and still is a very famous and important man in history.
He is famous for fighting against segregation and apartheid, he was
against white supremacy and he won the Nobel Peace Prize.
During Nelson Mandella’s life in South Africa there was a lot of segregation
and apartheid. Today in Afghanistan and other war torn countries,
there is a lot of segregation and apartheid. In some countries
boys are given better opportunities at getting schooling and
getting a job. I think everyone should have a chance to have a
safe and fair life.
